Last Bet in Deadwood, 8 to 20 players, 45 to 90 min

  • Deadwood, Dakota Territory, Summer 1876.

Dust dances between wooden buildings. The streets smell of whiskey, gunpowder, and gold soaked in sweat. In this fledgling town, nestled in the heart of the Black Hills, the law is vague. Guns speak faster than judges, and legends still walk among us.

Here, in the Nuttal & Mann Saloon, Wild Bill Hickok and Doc Holliday have summoned the greatest names in the country to an unprecedented poker tournament. The stakes: 50% of a gold mining claim they co-own, a share of the gold buried beneath untouched land in the Black Hills.

"It’s not about the gold. It’s about whose hands it ends up in." — Doc

This tournament is a calculated bet.

Doc Holliday knows it. His days are numbered. The cough folds him in two, the blood keeps coming back. He can’t run anymore. But he can still play. And this tournament hides a deeper motive. Three years ago, his cousin Mattie, the only woman he ever loved, died in a suspicious fire at a hospice in Tennessee. They called it an accident, but Doc found a clue. This tournament is his way of bringing the West together… and uncovering the truth.

Wild Bill Hickok, co-owner of the claim, sees this as his last chance to challenge the West with cards in hand. Worn by the years and hunted by enemies, he’d rather stake a piece of his land in one final, daring move than fade quietly into the dust. He wants to either leave this land to someone worthy… or win Doc’s share and carve his name into history one last time.

"If you want to see the true face of the West, put a bag of gold in the middle and watch what people do to get it."— Bill

So they sent out the call for a poker tournament, and the fiercest came running: sharpshooters, outlaws, marshals, thieves, and bandits.

    Tonight, the cards will fall.

And whether for gold, honor, or silence, someone won’t leave Deadwood the way they came.
