HOW TO PLAY MYSTERIUS MYSTERY PARTY GAMES?
Mysterius reinvents murder mystery parties for friends, colleagues, or family, allowing everyone to step into a character's shoes and experience a captivating adventure. Participants, while embodying a character, gather information and analyze clues to solve the crime, all accompanied by an ambient video that ensures as much fun for the game master as for the guests. Who will be able to solve the mystery? Here's the procedure for a successful evening after your online purchase and receiving your game kit by email: The host reads the instructions and chooses a game version (Guilty on a Mission or Total Mystery) They then choose their own character from the available ones in the selected version and send the other character sheets to players, ideally at least 24 hours before the event
(Each character sheet includes info to reveal during the game and a costume suggestion. Some also include clues to print) Players bring their character sheet to the event, and some must also print and bring clues Once everyone is ready, the host starts the ambient video to launch the game Players split into small groups, sharing the information to be revealed from their character sheet A crime occurs. Everyone has a motive, but only one is guilty. Each player investigates using the clues and shared information. In some games, new information must be revealed after the crime. In the Guilty on a Mission version, the guilty player tries to mislead the group. The game ends when the video ends, or earlier if players have solved (or abandoned!) the investigation. The host then reads the culprit reveal text aloud. *A few minutes before the end of the game, the host can pause the ambiance video to allow more time for analyzing the clues if needed, or skip forward if the players believe they have found the culprit.
RECEPTION: BETWEEN COCKTAIL DINNER AND SEATED DINNER
Our games are designed to be played standing, in a shared space. Encourage 2-4 player groups to chat and exchange information. A cocktail-style setup is ideal to foster dynamic interactions and help everyone get into character. The character sheets promote improvisation and natural responses, no rigid script to follow. If you prefer to play seated around a table, each player will take turns revealing their clues out loud. This will speed up clue analysis and mystery resolution, and the host will likely need to stop the video and end the game earlier.
DOES THE ORGANIZER KNOW IN ADVANCE WHO THE CULPRIT IS?
After your purchase, download the game, assign a character to each guest, and dive into the adventure! If the organizer avoids looking at the character sheets, they can also participate without knowing the culprit. The ambient video will guide the game's facilitation, with key events happening at specific moments.
CAN WE PLAY WITHOUT THE AMBIENT VIDEO?
The ambient video is essential for the smooth running of the game. It also allows the host to participate in the gameplay. From the very beginning of the game, we recommend playing the video (the link is provided in the instruction document received with the game) on a large screen with sound, clearly visible to all players. The timer displayed on the screen will serve as a time reference for the entire group and allow certain players to carry out mini-scenarios at the right moment. After the incident, if the players appear to have identified the culprit based on the clues and discussions, the host may choose to end the game early. Otherwise, the game continues until the video timer runs out. At the end of the game, the host must read aloud the reveal text to disclose the culprit.
CAN WE PLAY WITH FEWER PLAYERS THAN THE REQUIRED MINIMUM?
For an optimal experience, it is advisable to adhere to the recommended number of players (min-max) for the chosen game. However, for games where the wrongdoing is not a murder, you can assign up to two additional characters to one or two players at most, excluding the host character. These players should familiarize themselves with their characters in advance and decide which one to play first. The character switch can take place after the wrongdoing, as players will need to ensure they communicate all the post-wrongdoing information from the first character to all the other players before changing characters.
HOW DO YOU RECEIVE THE MYSTERIUS GAME AFTER PURCHASING IT?
After your purchase on our website, you will automatically receive an email containing the link to download your game. It is recommended to download the game as soon as you receive the link. You can then organize your game on the date of your choice. The game kit, in the form of PDF documents, includes everything you need: instructions, the culprit reveal text, the link to the ambiance video, terms of use, the procedure for character allocation based on the number of players, character sheets containing the information to be revealed, costume suggestions, and the game's context. Read the instructions, distribute the character sheets to the players, and get ready for a memorable evening.
WHAT PAYMENT METHODS ARE ACCEPTED?
We accept payments by credit card, Apple Pay, Google Pay, and PayPal. After payment, you will automatically receive an email with a link to download the game. If you do not receive it, even after checking your spam folder, it may be due to a PayPal transaction review, a security measure that is usually resolved within 24 hours. The game will be sent via email immediately afterward.
WHAT IS THE RETURN POLICY?
As a digital game purchase (in the form of PDF documents) delivered via email immediately upon purchase, all sales are final and non-refundable. We encourage you to read player reviews to get an idea of the Mysterius game experience.
CAN THE GAME BE TRANSFERRED TO ANOTHER PERSON?
Distributing, transferring, assigning, renting, lending, copying, modifying, creating derivative works, or granting games to a third party is strictly prohibited. Reselling or transferring games is also strictly prohibited. Any representation or reproduction, in whole or in part, by any means, without the author's consent is unlawful and constitutes copyright infringement under the Intellectual Property Code. HOW TO GIVE A MYSTERIUS GAME AS A GIFT?
If you wish to purchase a game for someone else, you should purchase a Mysterius digital gift card. This considerate approach will allow the recipient to choose the game that suits them best, providing them with a personalized and enjoyable experience.
WHEN IS A COMMERCIAL LICENSE REQUIRED?
A commercial license is required in the following situations: - Using the game for profit, whether in a public or private setting. - Promoting and organizing public events around the game. - Using the game at an event that charges an entry fee to guests or participants. - Use of the game by any business providing event planning services.
 Exemption: Without a commercial license, a business may use a Mysterius game only for internal, private, and non-profit activities intended for its employees. Any public, promotional, or professional use requires a commercial license. It is prohibited to sell or modify the game or any associated documents in any way. The license must be acquired at the same time as the game you plan to use. The purchase must be made exclusively on the website www.game.mysterius.ca. If the game has already been purchased individually, you must repurchase it with the license in order to receive a refund for your initial purchase, within a maximum of 24 hours. No refund for the initial purchase will be made after this period. The purchase date (of the license and the game associated with that license) is the effective date of the commercial license, which lasts for 3 months or 6 months depending on the chosen license. A maximum of one Mysterius game per commercial license: A license must be purchased for each Mysterius game intended for commercial use. Once the purchase of the commercial license is complete, you will receive by email the commercial contract, the Mysterius logo, and the terms and conditions of use.
WHY HAVEN'T I RECEIVED MY GAME YET AFTER PAYING WITH PAYPAL?
PayPal may place certain transactions under review when something appears out of the ordinary (such as a new card or an instant digital purchase). Because this is a digital product sent automatically after purchase, PayPal more frequently performs verification checks to confirm the authenticity of the transaction. Once the verification is complete, your payment will be automatically approved and you will receive your game by email. The verification process usually takes between 1 to 3 business days.
WHY WON'T MY PDF OPEN?
First, make sure you have a PDF reader installed and working on your computer (such as Adobe Reader). In some cases, a PDF file may not open due to an issue that occurred during the extraction of the ZIP folder. If the file still won’t open, rename it by right-clicking and entering only the character’s name, without accents or special characters. This usually resolves most opening errors. If the problem still continues, contact us and we can provide the game directly, without requiring file extraction.
HOW TO REPORT A FAULTY USER?
Report any suspicious or inappropriate activity by a user towards Mysterius, we invite you to confidentially submit a report to info@mysterius.ca. Your report should include the username or any other identifier of the offending individual, a detailed description of the alleged violation, and if possible, any supporting evidence (screenshots, recordings, etc.). By submitting a report, you contribute to maintaining the integrity and security of the Mysterius community.
