HOW THE GAME WORKS
Who are Mysterius games for?
Mysterius games are designed for groups of friends, families, coworkers, and businesses looking for an immersive and original activity. They are perfect for birthdays, parties with friends, team-building events, office parties, cottage weekends, family gatherings, and other special events.
How does a Mysterius murder mystery game work?
Each player takes on a character role, shares certain information about their character with the other players, analyzes clues, and works to solve the investigation. An ambient video guides each stage of the game through to the final reveal, while also allowing the host to participate.
Can I play without the ambient video?
The ambient video is essential to the flow of the game and also allows the host to participate. The link to access it is included in the instruction guide received after purchase. We recommend playing the video at the beginning of the game on a screen with sound, visible to all players. The on-screen timer helps keep everyone on track and signals certain players when to complete actions or mini-scenarios.
Can the host play without knowing who the culprit is?
Yes. Thanks to the ambient video, the host can fully participate in the game. If they avoid reading the character sheets and the final reveal text, they won’t know the culprit’s identity either.
What is the difference between the game versions?
The Culprit on a Mission version allows the guilty player to know their role from the start and create doubt throughout the investigation. Their goal is to avoid having the majority of participants vote for their character during the final vote. The Total Mystery version keeps the culprit’s identity secret until the final reveal, even from the player portraying that character.
Do all of your games involve a murder?
No. Some games also involve theft, cheating, or attempted murder.
Which game should I choose for my first experience?
Check each game’s page to see its difficulty level. No matter which level you choose, the goal is always to enjoy a fun and immersive experience.

Our games offer a unique immersive experience thanks to an ambient video that even allows the host to participate. The concept is designed to provide a memorable experience while keeping things simple and fun.
Are the games available in French?
Yes, to purchase a game in French, you must complete your order on the French version of the website. You can access it by selecting FR in the menu bar at the top of your screen.
Can I play the same game again?
Once the culprit’s identity has been revealed, it’s best to replay the game with a new group of players. During a second playthrough, the host can also choose not to assign themselves a character.
PLAYERS AND GAME FLOW
How many players can participate, and what is the minimum age requirement?
Our games are designed for groups of 4 to 50 players, depending on the scenario. Most of our games are recommended for players aged 13 and up. You can find these details on each game’s product page in our online store.
Can I play with fewer or more players than recommended?
For the best experience, we recommend following the recommended player count for the game you choose. That said, we understand that a participant may cancel at the last minute when everyone is already ready to play. If all essential characters are assigned to players who are present, the game can still run smoothly without any changes. Otherwise, here’s an alternative: For certain games designed for 6 players or more where the incident is not a murder, it’s possible to assign up to two additional characters to one or two players (excluding the host character). These players should familiarize themselves with both characters in advance and decide which one to play first. The character switch can happen after the incident, as long as all important information from the first character has been shared before switching. For all other games, we recommend postponing the event to preserve the quality of the experience.
Is it better to play standing up or sitting down?
Both options are possible. The game works especially well in a standing format in a shared space, as it makes certain actions easier and allows for more dynamic and natural conversations in small groups. However, it can also be played around a table, depending on your group’s preferences. You’ll also find themed snack suggestions for each game on its product page in our online store.
How long do the game and preparation take?
Depending on the game and the size of your group, a session typically lasts between 45 minutes and 2 hours. You should also plan for about 15 to 30 minutes of preparation time to print the materials and set up your play space. Character assignments and sharing character sheets with players should ideally be done between 24 hours and 2 weeks before the event, so everyone has enough time to familiarize themselves with their role.
Do I need costumes or prior experience?
No. Costumes are optional, and the games are designed for both beginners and experienced players.

Where can I buy a Mysterius game?
Our games can be purchased as printable digital versions directly from our online store. Some games are also available as printed cut-out versions on Amazon. Visit our online store to access links to the available physical versions. Please note that only the Total Mystery version is available for games sold on Amazon.
What’s included in the game?
The digital game kit includes everything you need to host your event. You’ll find the instructions, character sheets, printable clues, the final reveal text, and the link to the ambient video. It also includes an email header and an editable PDF to invite your participants, the game’s terms of use, and a checklist to help the host make sure nothing is forgotten.
What do I need to play?
The game kit, a printer (unless the purchase was made on Amazon), a stable internet connection, and a device to play the video during the game. A color printer is recommended for a more immersive experience, but a black-and-white printer can also work.
How do I receive the game after purchase?
After your purchase on our website, you will automatically receive an email with a link to download your game. We recommend downloading it as soon as you receive it. You can then organize your event whenever you choose.
Is there a printed version of Mysterius games?
Yes. Our games are primarily offered as printable digital PDF formats, but some games are also available in printed versions on Amazon. Visit our online game store to access the links to the physical versions.
What payment methods do you accept?
We accept payments by credit card, Apple Pay, Google Pay, and PayPal.
Can I share, transfer, or resell my game?
It is strictly prohibited to distribute, transfer, assign, rent, lend, copy, modify, create derivative works from, or license the games to any third party. Reselling or transferring the games is also strictly prohibited. Any full or partial reproduction or representation by any means whatsoever, without the author’s consent, is unlawful and constitutes copyright infringement under intellectual property law.
How can I give a game as a gift?
You can purchase a digital gift card so the recipient can choose the game that suits them best. Visit the Gift Card section in the menu at the top of this page.
What is your refund policy?
Since these are digital products delivered immediately after purchase, all sales are final. We invite you to read player reviews on our website to get a better idea of how Mysterius games are appreciated.
When is a commercial license required?
A commercial license is required in the following situations: -Using the game for profit, whether in a public or private setting. -Promoting and organizing public events centered around the game. --Using the game at an event that charges an admission fee to guests or participants. Using the game by any business that offers event planning services. Exemption: Without a commercial license, a business may use a Mysterius game only for an internal, private, non-profit activity intended for its employees. Any public, promotional, or professional use requires a commercial license. It is prohibited to sell or modify the game or any related documents in any way. The license must be purchased at the same time as the game you plan to use. If the game was already purchased individually, you must repurchase it with the license to receive a refund for your original purchase, within a maximum of 24 hours. No refund will be issued for the originally purchased game after this period. The purchase date of the license (and the game associated with it) becomes the effective date of the commercial license for a period of 3 or 6 months, depending on the license selected. Maximum of one Mysterius game per commercial license: A separate license must be purchased for each Mysterius game intended for commercial use. To purchase a license, please visit the website’s store and select the one that suits your needs. Once your commercial license purchase is complete, you will receive the commercial agreement, the Mysterius logo, and the terms and conditions of use by email.
My PDF file won’t open. What should I do?
First, make sure you have a PDF reader installed on your device. In some cases, a PDF file may not open due to an issue that occurred while extracting the ZIP folder. If this happens, right-click the file and rename it using only the character’s name, without accents or special characters. This resolves most file-opening issues. If the problem persists, contact us. We have an alternative solution to send you the game directly without requiring file extraction.
I didn’t receive my game after my purchase. What should I do?
First, check your spam or junk email folder. If the game isn’t there, contact us. If you paid with PayPal, some transactions may be temporarily placed under review before the automatic delivery is processed. Once the review is completed, your payment will be automatically approved and you will receive your game by email. The review period typically takes between 1 and 3 business days.
How can I report unauthorized use of a Mysterius game?
Mysterius games are protected by copyright law. If you become aware of unauthorized sharing, illegal resale, or any fraudulent use of our games, you can contact us confidentially at info@mysterius.ca. If possible, please include the name of the person involved (or any other identifying information), a description of the situation, and any relevant evidence (screenshots, recordings, links, etc.). By reporting these situations, you help us protect the creative work behind Mysterius games and preserve the integrity of our community.
